ABOUT

One of the first decisions my wife and I made when we first became engaged was that, no matter where we got married, we would be sure to have a chuppah. Being a woodworker, I decided I wanted to honor this Jewish tradition by making the structure myself. Moreover, after taking my first woodcarving class, I decided I wanted to imbue the sacred structure with beautiful carvings, meaningful imagery, and create an heirloom to pass down to future generations.

On the night before our wedding, my wife’s parents graciously bestowed upon me my own hebrew name:

Chaim Eliezer.

While not intended to be the star of the wedding, the chuppah stole the show. Soon after, I had two more requests from friends/family for their own custom, hand carved chuppahs.

And thus, I became Chaim the Chuppahman.
